Shop online

The fact that online retailers like jacamo.co.uk stock everything you could possibly need, year-round really helps with this. You can go somewhere like that, take your time and pull together everything that each of the boys in the family needs. If you can’t afford to buy it all at once you can save everything to a wish list shopping basket and gradually order and pay for what you need.

Here is a short list of the main items you will need for each person. I’ve included a few words about the trends to watch out for each item.

Swimwear

This year, there is no one style of swimwear that dominates. But, for the men and boys look out for board shorts. Some versions can easily double up as swimwear as well.

T-shirts

Tees are perfect for a summer holiday. They are really versatile. This year, keep an eye out for the bold logotype. This is all part of the current 80s revival fashion trend. For the girls, a dress or two instead of only t-shirts and bottoms can also be a good idea.

Shorts

Shorts are ideal for summer holidays. This year, there is plenty of choice, with the chino and cargo pant styles dominating. Although, it is not hard to pick up more traditional cuts too.

Trousers and jeans

It is a good idea to pack a pair of longer trousers as well. Jeans or chinos are a good option. Or, if you prefer something softer jogging bottoms. For the girls, slouch trousers are also widely available, this year.

A long-sleeved top or shirt

It is always a good idea to pack at least one long-sleeved top or shirt for everyone. That way if the weather is a little colder than you expect nobody will end up shivering in short-sleeved tops. A nice shirt or blouse paired with the right type of bottoms is a great way to dress in a slightly smarter way, for a special night out.

A lightweight coat

For a similar reason, it is important that has a lightweight coat they can wear. Ideally, you want it to be waterproof and it should keep the worst of the wind off of the wearer.

In fact, if you like them, it is quite easy to buy windbreakers this year. Again, this is thanks to the fact that a lot of designers have turned to the 80s for inspiration.

A full summer holiday packing list

The above is not an exhaustive list. For example, I’ve not covered footwear, sun protection or accessories. This article is designed to simply jog your memory. If you would like a full summer holiday packing list, you can find one here. It is downloadable, so you can print it out and use it as a shopping and packing checklist.

We do a lot of our holiday shopping online – we just don’t have time to go to the shops and get what we need. We have an Easter holiday coming up and will be shopping online for that too!
