Ghostly Halloween Garland

Halloween is just around the corner and houses everywhere are getting into the ‘spirit’ of things by cracking out their seasonal Halloween themed decorations.

Personally, I don’t have a trusty collection of Halloween decor that I display every year and I have mixed emotions over this. On the one hand it means I don’t get to turn my home into an Instagrammer’s paradise; on the other hand, it means that I get to promote creativity within my children and encourage them to use their imaginations to create their own spooky decorations.

Most October’s, our home is filled with carved pumpkins, scented candles, conkers, autumn leaves and kid’s Halloween art.

Luke’s latest decoration is this ghostly Halloween garland.

It’s a cheap, no thrills craft that’s perfect for parents with a limited craft supply box. It’s great as an after school activity or a play date activity. It’s suitable for young toddlers with minimal help or you can challenge the bigger children to make the whole thing all by themselves!

Made using white poster paint and some colourful craft paper, these are the cutest spooky decorations you will ever see. Once the paint is dry, draw on the faces using a black marker pen and string up on some Halloween themed twine. I used masking tape to secure the ghosts to the twine.

Our garland is hanging from my (very messy) bookshelf in the living room, but they’d look great hanging from the mantle place, or even the window sil, under a beautiful autumnal display.
