Hi I’m Clare, I’m a mum to two and a childminder and blog over at Clare’s Little Tots. I’m really excited to be guest posting for Lukeosaurus and Me today, thank you have us!
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I thought I’d share a really easy way to make Valentine’s Day cards which are perfect for toddlers or preschoolers.
I’m always trying to find ways to make homemade cards with the little ones that has as much of their input as possible. Last year we made these cards so I wanted to change it up a bit so this year we have made these Heart Collage Valentine’s Day Cards.
These beautiful creations were made with 1 and 2 year olds.
You will need:
Pink or red card
Red and / or pink paint
Red and / or pink glitter
Heart shaped cookie cutters (if like me and you’re useless at drawing hearts)
First up I set out the white card and paints, a mixture of red and pink, along with the glitter and let little hands paint and shake until their hearts content. They each made several paintings each, because of course one is never enough.
I then left them to dry over lunch and then used the heart shaped cookie cutters to draw different sized hearts on the back. You could of course freehand this but I find hearts so hard to draw for some reason!
I then cut out the heart shapes and set them out with a glue stick and a piece of pink card folder in half. This step could be done by older children themselves to practice scissor skills.
They then stuck on the hearts to the front of the card making a lovely collage affect and I let them use their fabulous mark making skills to write a message inside (I just wrote their names for them so I could remember which was which!).
