Our Favourite Outdoor Toys For Summer.

*Collaborative post.

Is it even summer if your garden isn’t full of outdoor toys for the kids? I have lost count of the amount of times I have rearranged the flower pots to make room for all the children’s toys!

We have amassed quite a few outdoor toys since lockdown began, and now that summer is in full swing, they’re getting daily use for hours on end.

Our favourite outdoor toys for summer.

Here are just a few of our favourite outdoor toys for summer. You’ll find DIYs, cheap and cheerful options and some more luxury items. I have tried to make sure that there’s something to suit everyone’s budget, but if you have any additional ideas, feel free to contact me on Twitter

Just Add Water – Pools, Water Tables, Rubble Buckets.

Small paddling pools are dirt cheap to buy and, if looked after well, they can be used year after year. Whether you’re buying brand new or second hand, you’re bound to find a bargain.

You don’t need to purchase a pool to have fun in the water though. My 2 year old much prefers to have a big rubble bucket filled up with water. He will very happily sit in it and play with bath toys, keeping him busy for hours.

Water tables are another great summer outdoor toy for the garden. They can be expensive to buy, but there are loads of inspirational posts on Pinterest that’ll guide you through the process of building your own for next to nothing!

Add Playthings

It’s easy to make water play more exciting by adding a few simple playthings. There are plenty of items that can make water play more exciting that can be found around the home. For example, you could add funnels, utensils, plastic animals and even dolls like Bratz dolls – speaking of, have you ever wondered how old are the Bratz?

Ride On Toys.

If your garden is on the larger side, ride on toys are a great outdoor toy choice for the summer months. From kids electric cars to quad bikes and dirt bikes, there’s a huge collection of exciting outdoor toys for summer that will provide your little adrenaline junkie with hours of fun.

Ride on toys that suit smaller children and toddlers, such as balance bikes and trikes are always popular outdoor toys. And let’s face it, what child can refuse a 2 wheel scooter

Trampolines.

Another initial investment in terms of money, but one that will definitely pay for itself. Getting a trampoline was one of the best things we did during lockdown. The kids love it, they get a good chunk of exercise and it keeps them busy for ages. You can buy trampolines secondhand on Facebook Marketplace or sites like Gumtree too, but most people require you to dismantle it yourself which can be tricky.

Playhouses.

Playhouses are great outdoor toys for smaller children come rain or shine. They also serve as good outdoor toy storage too. Oscar got a playhouse for his 2nd birthday and he absolutely loves it.

Teepees and play tents.

Teepees and fun tents are a cheaper option if buying a playhouse is a bit too much of a stretch. The other advantage of having a teepee or fun children’s pop up tent is that they can be easily moved around or taken down, making them an excellent choice if you have a small garden.

Those are our top 5 favourite outdoor toys that are great for keeping the kids entertained during the summer months. Hopefully you are feeling inspired and you have found something that fits your budget.
