Sensory Bath Play With Zimpli Kids (+ giveaway)

Ever since opening the big box of Gelli Baff products that were kindly sent to us by Zimpli Kids, Luke has been begging to use them. We were sent some Slime Baff, Gelli Baff and Snoball Play for Luke to play with and share his expert opinion on. Some time just before Christmas I gave in to his constant nagging and cleared a few hours, so we could get down and messy with these fun sensory play products.

Gelli Baff Fun

Firstly, we set up the bathroom ready for some Gelli Baff fun. Each box contains all the ingredients you need to set up the bath, including some magic powder which dissolves all the Gelli when you’re finished. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. All we had to do to get the best out of Zimpli Kid’s Gelli Baff was fill the bath up so it was about 4cm deep, pour in the Gelli Baff mixture and get our hands sticky by mixing the bath up. Luke said it was like mixing a giant potion in the bathtub and I’d be inclined to agree with that analogy. After a few moments, the powder had turned into some gooey, gloopy jelly and Luke was eager to climb in.

Besides this product being messy and fun, it was also nice as a parent to watch Luke experiment with the Gelli Baff. He was experimenting with his bath toys to see whether they’d float on the surface or sink. It turns out that they did neither; instead the Gelli Bath swallowed the toys up and they were stuck in limbo between the two. Luke really, really loved this and my bathroom was filled with giggles of glee each time he noticed something new about how the Gelli Baff reacted with his toys. It reminded me that children are never too old for sensory play and, even as adults, it’s fun to get involved and get our hands messy every now and then. When it was time to get out, I simply poured in the sachet of powder and thinned out the Gelli Baff and the whole lot went down the drain without any issues. It does state on the instructions that if you’re unhappy with the viscosity of the Gelli Baff, you can add salt to the bath to thin the liquid out even further.

When finished, we simply showed as usual and washed down the bathtub so any stray bits of Gelli Baff floated away.

Slime Baff

Instead of turning your bath into a gooey mixture of jelly, the Slime Baff turns it into a kids paradise: one bath full of bright, gooey slime.

The process for making Slime Baff is pretty much the same as the Gelli Baff. We filled up our bath so it was roughly 4cm deep and evenly poured the special Slime Baff powder. However, instead of mixing it all up together with our hands and jumping straight in, we had to wait for around 10 to 15 minutes for the slime to form and thicken up. After slowly and gently pouring the slime powder into the water, you need to mix it up with your hands and then come back to stir occasionally until the slime has formed.

Then add in more water until the slime gets to your desired consistency and voila – one gooey slime bath! Now I know what you’re thinking – what about the drains! Zimpli Kids have thought about that and have ensured that their product doesn’t damage the drainage system in any way. There are instructions on how to dilute and drain the bath once you’re finished and advice on what to do if you have existing issues with slow drainage.

Luke had loads of fun in the slime bath, which was a very bright blue. I was slightly concerned that it would stain the bath or his skin slightly, as the colour was so vivid, but I needn’t have worried. As you can imagine, my 5 year had an amazing time playing in a tub full of slime! It’s definitely been a talking point, and he keeps asking me to do it for him again. One thing I will say is that slime is very slippery, so it’s really important that an adult is there to watch over the children. Luke kept sliding down the bath towards the taps and then struggling to get himself back up to the other end.

SnoBall Play

SnoBall Play is another great product from Zimpli Kids, only this one isn’t for bath time. You can use it either outdoors or indoors to create your very own snow! We used it indoors to build some snowmen and introduced some fun toys to the mix, playing out our very own winter wonderland scene. Adding water to the mixture makes 30+ snowballs or a good amount of snow to play with. Snoball Play is easy to dispose of, just sweep it up when you’re done and pop it in with the rest of your household waste – the product is degradable so if you’ve been playing outside, you don’t need to worry about that either.
