Tasty Summer Drinks You Can Make At Home (Alcoholic)

There are so many tasty summer drinks you can make at home that are quick and easy to master. Here are three of my favourites that are guaranteed to wow your guests!

  • Sparkling Apple Vodka Fizz
  • Tequila Sunrise
  • Sex On The Beach

Sparkling Apple Vodka Fizz

This fruity cocktail is light and bubbly, and also incredibly quick and easy to make. This speedy cocktail doesn’t require any shaking, making it the ideal summer evening tipple. As far as summer drinks you can make at home go, the Sparkling Apple Vodka Fizz is absolutely ideal for those looking for a refreshing evening drink.

All you need to make a Sparkling Apple Vodka Fizz is grab 25mls of your favourite vodka – I love this Scottish Vodka from Tayport Distillery – along with a few other ingredients:

  • 150ml Sparkling Apple Juice
  • 25ml Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 2 – 3 Dashes Of Angostura Bitter
  • Ice Cubes
  • Thinly Sliced Apples (For Garnish – Optional)

To make this cocktail, chill a highball glass in the freezer for a few minutes and then fill about ¾ of the glass with fresh ice. Measure and pour your ingredients, starting with the vodka, over the ice. After you’ve poured the vodka, add the sparkling apple juice, the lemon juice, and the Angostura bitters. Stir your cocktail gently and enjoy!

Tequila Sunrise

Did you know that the classic Tequila Sunrise is among many of the delicious summer drinks that you can make at home? Aesthetically, Tequila Sunrises really shine through, and they’re great little cocktails to make at home this summer if you want to impress your friends and family.

Again, the Tequila Sunrise is simple to make, just be sure to get the following ingredients:

  • 2 Tsp Grenadine
  • 50ml Tequila
  • 1 Tbsp Triple Sec
  • Ice
  • Orange Juice (1 Orange or 2 small oranges)
  • Half A Lemon, Juiced
  • 1 Cocktail Cherry To Garnish

To make a delicious Tequila Sunrise cocktail at home, follow these steps:

Pour your grenadine into a tall glass, then fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the tequila, triple sec, and fruit juices to the shaker and combine the ingredients until the outside of the shaker feels cold.

Drop a few ice cubes into the glass and double-strain the cocktail into the glass, trying not to disturb the layer of grenadine too much. Add more ice if needed and then garnish with a cherry on a cocktail stick, or even a fancy cocktail umbrella.

Sex On The Beach

Sex On The Beach is another vodka-based cocktail that hits just right when you’re enjoying the summer sunshine. I’ve heard this cocktail referred to as “Fun On The Beach” in some restaurants and bars, which is a far more family-friendly name if you’re looking to serve these at a family event.

When it comes to summer drinks you can make at home, Sex On The Beach is easy and so, so delicious. So let’s get started and learn how to make it!

Firstly, gather the necessary ingredients up to make this fruity cocktail. You will need to following:

  • Ice
  • 50ml Vodka
  • 25ml Peach Schnapps
  • 2 Oranges, Juiced (Plus 2 slices for an optional garnish)
  • 50ml Cranberry Juice
  • Glacé Cherries, (Optional garnish)

This is one of the easiest summer drinks you can make at home; it looks stunning and tastes delicious. To make Sex On The Beach, simply pour the vodka, peach schnapps, and fruit juice into a big jug and stir. Divide the cocktail between two ice-filled glasses, stirring gently, and finish with cocktail cherries and orange slices to garnish.

Summer Drinks You Can Make At Home (Non-Alcoholic)

If you’re looking for some alcohol-free summer drinks you can make at home, look no further. These summer drinks are fruity, refreshing, and all-round crowd pleasers. My 3 favaourite non-alcoholic summer drinks that we’re going to learn how to make today include:

  • Summer Punch
  • Mojito Mocktail
  • Watermelon Lemonade

Summer Punch

This non-alcholic summer punch is one of the easiest summer drinks to make at home. This punch is a subtle alcohol-free nod to the quintessentially British summer mix, Pimms.

To make a deliciously fruity summer punch, you’ll need:

  • 120ml Lemonade
  • 1 Sprig Of Mint
  • 1 Thick Slice Cucumber
  • Frozen Summer Berries
  • Ice

The first step to making summer punch is to chop the cucumber and mint sprigs into small pieces. Bring 200ml of water to the boil, then add the cucumber and mint, turning off the heat to leave for 2 minutes.

Add a handful of frozen summer berries to the pan. After a minute, crush them lightly with the back of a fork before straining the mixture. Leave to chill, then pour over ice.

Mojito Mocktail

Just because you’re going alcohol-free doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the taste of some of your favourite cocktails. This non-alcoholic version of the Mojito tastes divine and is one of those summer drinks you can make at home that’s guaranteed to impress your guests.

This is one of the easiest summer drinks you can make at home as you only need 4 ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • small bunch mint
  • 3 limes, juiced
  • soda water

To make your Mojito mocktail, put the mint leaves and sugar together in a bowl and muddle them together using the end of a rolling pin. Add some ice to a glass and pour in the lime juice. Add the sugary min mixture and top up with soda water.

Watermelon Lemonade

If you want summer drinks you can make at home that will absolutely WOW your guests, you need to try making watermelon lemonade! There are a few more steps and ingredients to this recipe than the others in this blog post, but the finished results make the extra work totally worth it.

To make watermelon lemonade, you’ll need:

  • 1 Large (or 2 small) Watermelons
  • 250ml Lemon Juice
  • 100g Golden Caster Sugar
  • 1L Soda Water
  • 1 Lim  (Cut into slices)
  • Mint
  • Ice

To make this alcohol-free summer drink, chop your watermelon in half and hollow it out. Make sure you remove the pops along the way. Mash the flesh of the watermelon through a sieve into a bowl, then add this to a blender with the lemon juice and sugar. Blend until the watermelon turns into a puree, then stir in the soda water.

Serve the watermelon lemonade by adding some ice to the hollowed-out watermelons and pouring over the lemonade mixture. Leftovers can be added to a jug. Garnish with lime slices and a few mint leaves.
