August Favourites ’16
I’m late…again! I love Monthly Favourite posts, but I am awful at getting them out on time! This past month has been particularly busy for me, but I’m incredibly proud of myself for the things I have achieved and the way in which I have managed to stay sane throughout the whole of August. Hi five for me!
I may have had a bit of a blogging break recently, but my spare time has not been going to waste. I have met a whole bunch of new people, tried some new experiences, found new things that I absolutely love and, something I’m most excited and proud about – I’ve become a bit more comfortable with myself and maybe even a tad more confident. I’m not saying I’m anywhere near 100% there; it’s a long journey when it comes to loving and accepting yourself, but I’m at the beginning of that journey now and it feels really, really nice.
So firstly, as mentioned, there was a fair bit of soul searching and becoming more comfortable with myself over August, and in my opinion, you can’t do a bit of soul searching without some cracking tunes to get you through. Being in my twenties, there’s nothing I love more than a bit of 90’s and early 2000’s pop punk, so obviously I was eagerly anticipating the release of Blink 182’s new album, California. I was definitely not disappointed and I’m very thankful for Spotify’s repeat button. I totally get that this type of music is not for everyone, but it was my childhood and it got me through my angsty teenage years – now here Blink 182 are again, 10 years later and still getting me through my angsty adult life.
Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil is my new best friend. An absolute life saver. To put it bluntly: I am not great at make up. I’ve only really started to use it more often and, erm, “properly” over the last two years, so my knowledge is sub par to say the least. However, my friend finally convinced me to let her do my eyebrows and I actually thought they looked okay – maybe even quite nice! Goof Proof is so easy to use, the name really does say it all. It’s great for make up newbies like me as it’s very easy to apply and it makes the whole “doing your eyebrows” mission quick and easy. I’m using a sample sized product, but once it’s finished, I’ll definitely be investing in the full sized pencil.
Snapchat – I am an addict. A Snapchat addict. A ‘snaddict’. I must confess that I have actually been addicted for a while now, however, with the last month being full of so many exciting things and adventures, I’ve become even more obsessed with the app. I love sharing my adventures on my Snapstory, especially now that Snapchat have added the ‘memories’ feature that enables you to save images taken using the app. It’s not all adventures and days out though, there are quite a few ‘homey’ days where my Snapchat story is just full of selfies with crazy filters and toddler spam.
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Matte-Lip stick in Chocco Berry is beautiful. Yes. More make up! But I am in love with this colour! Mother Pucker lip stick is easy to apply, it makes my lips feel lovely and soft, the colour lasts for a relatively long period of time and, most importantly, the colours are bold and true to the packaging. I feel that the Chocco Berry colour compliments my red hair particularly well and that it is a lovely addition to a casual day time look, but it also makes a great statement for a night out. Or, if you’re just anything like me, it works well with that rock chick look!
August was truly a great month for me. A lot of things that I would say “made it” that great for me aren’t materialistic things you can put in a blog post like this. They’re experiences and feelings and coming to terms with who I am as a person, what I’m like and what my life is like. An you know what? None of these things are as bad as I thought they were.
