Essential Things To Remember As You Embark On Your Fitness Journey

Embarking on a fitness journey can be an exciting time – but pretty scary too. How do you know that all your hard work is going to pay off? From tracking your macros to staying accountable – there’s just so much information out there. So how do you stop yourself from getting overwhelmed? Read on for a few essential things to remember as you embark on your fitness journey:

You Absolutely Need To Enjoy It

You need to find a way to enjoy your fitness journey. You could have the best program in the world, but if you’re not enjoying it then you are unlikely to stick to it. Of course, your journey needs to be aligned with your goals, but you can tweak it to make sure it suits you. Everyone is different. Whereas some people may enjoy running on the treadmill or other forms of cardio workouts, others may find more enjoyment in using dumbbells weights and working on strength training.

If you want it to be more intense and shorter, try incorporating supersets and shorter rest times. Incorporate workouts and exercises that you actually like and you’ll have a much better time getting to where you want to be.

Accountability Is Key

Most people find that accountability helps them to get to where they need to be. Hiring an online PT can be a great push for those who need it. Take a look at a site like Expertpt.co.uk so you know what to look for in an online personal trainer. Make sure you go for somebody you like the sound of, with real qualifications. Take a look at the content they put out there to ensure you resonate with it!

There’s No Magic – Only Consistency

You need to trust the process. Consistency is absolutely crucial. There’s no magic in a fitness journey, and no pill or drink that can speed things up. You just need to keep chipping away at it, day after day. You don’t need to be 100% perfect, but you do need to make sure you are improving bit by bit.

What You Do Outside Of The Gym Is Just As Important

What you do outside of the gym is just as important as what you’re doing in the gym. Are you consuming plenty of protein? Are you tracking your macros, and taking your vitamins? Are you finding ways to reduce your stress triggers? Are you sleeping well? Staying hydrated? It’s not all about the gym!

The Journey Won’t Be Linear

The journey is never going to be linear. Things can happen outside of your control. As long as you keep on going back, you can’t fail.

Your Journey Is Unique

Your journey is not going to look the same as anybody else’s either. Don’t compare yourself to somebody who is at a completely different stage of their journey to you. Focus on yourself and nobody else.

Your Small Victories Should Be Celebrated

Your small victories should be celebrated, no matter how small. Whether it’s a slightly heavier squat, or the fact you’ve improved your pull ups, celebrate it all! Treat yourself to something small, even if it’s just a night binging your favorite show.

Track Your Results

Track your results so that you can tangibly see how far you’ve come. Take pictures, and write down your progress in a log book!
