Host Your Very Own Family Quiz Night (Game Giveaway)
Back during the COVID-19 lockdowns, my family and I spent hours over Facebook and Zoom hosting Family Quiz Nights. It was such a fun way to stay in touch with relatives and friends that we couldn’t see face to face, and it was always something that we looked forward to each week. With that being said, I did notice that it got trickier and trickier to find good quiz questions that were suitable for both the grown-ups and the children as time went on.
Fast forward a couple of years and although we may not still partaking in virtual quizzes, we do know that it is a brilliant way to spend quality time together as a family. Recently, I was sent the new Family Quiz Night game from Cheatwell. This quiz based board game features two sets of questions on every card – one set for adults, and another for children.
Since we used to have such a good time playing family quizzes, I decided that our recent camping trip in Cornwall would be the perfect place to test it out. Here’s what we thought of Cheatwell’s Host Your Very Own Family Quiz Night game.
The rules are nice and simple to understand.
The rules of the game are fairly straightforward making them nice and easy for children to understand. I always worry when getting a new board game that I’m going to have to spend ages teaching the children how to play, but I didn’t have that worry when I read the rule book for this family quiz game.
The aim of the game.
The aim of the game is to answer questions based on the topic the player’s piece lands on. There are quite a few categories on the board so there’s a good variety of quiz questions spanning a range of topics. In total, there are 8 categories for players to test their knowledge on:
- TV
- Movies
- Geography
- History
- Music
- Science & Nature
- People
- Pot Luck
Each quiz card contains two multiple choice questions that are relevant to the chosen topic. On the question cards, you’ll find a question for children (top) and adults (bottom).
If you manage to choose the correct answer, you’re able to roll the dice again and progress along the board. However, if you’re unable to answer the question correctly, you stay where you are and wait for your next turn to answer another question. The first person to reach the ‘Finish’ square in the centre of the board, wins!
What we thought of Cheatwell’s Host Your Own Family Quiz Night Game
We took this camping with us as I thought it would be a great game to play together as a family during the evenings to keep us all entertained. I wasn’t disappointed. We really enjoyed playing the Host Your Own Family Quiz Night game and found it to be quite challenging but not too difficult that we lost interest.
I will admit that some of the adults questions were tricky, so we adapted the rules slightly to allow us to answer them as a substitute quiz question when we failed to get the adults correct. This made things a little easier, although my 9 year old did find it funny when he knew the answers to the children’s questions and we didn’t! He even knew some of the answers to the adult’s questions as well, which he delighted in telling us every time we got one wrong that he knew.
The whole game lasted around half an hour which I think is a great amount of time for a board game with children to take, otherwise, they can start to lose interest in the activity. Throughout the quiz game, there were plenty of laughs and shouts of disbelief, and it was a really lovely way to spend the evenings together.

Looks like a great game for everyone. Are the questions good for an international audience or are they pitched at a UK, or USA audience? (I’ve played trivia games where questions are mainly focused in one country rather than worldwide).
Lukeosaurus And Me
It is a fab game, I really recommend it. I think it caters pretty well to an international audience, it had questions about US presidents etc which we actually found quite tricky!
