*Ad/collaborative post.

There is nothing better on a nice sunny day than heading down to the beach with the kids. These are always memorable days for the whole family where you can enjoy spending quality time together in a fun and beautiful setting. As any parent who has taken the kids to the beach before knows, it can also be stressful if you are not prepared! Here is how you can make the most out of your day:

Preparation

First, you need to give yourself and the kids plenty of time to get ready to head down to the coast as otherwise it will be a massive rush and you will arrive feeling flustered. Consider packing the night before and give yourself plenty of time to get down there so that you can enjoy the whole day relaxing and playing on the beach.

What to Pack

There are a few key items which you will need in order for everyone to enjoy the trip. This will include:

  • Swimming gear
  • Towels
  • Food and water
  • Sun cream
  • Spare clothes (including a hat)
  • Games
  • Books
  • Camera
  • Beach chairs & umbrella (optional)

Food

In terms of good food to take to the beach, there are all kinds of great options such as sandwiches, fruit, crisps, chocolate bars and yoghurts. The key is to make sure that everything is kept sand-free which can be a real challenge! Having a cooler and zip-lock bags will help everything to stay sand-free, fresh and cool.

Getting There

Driving is one option but this can bring added stress. Alternatively, you could jump on the train which can be less stressful, easier and more fun. You can prebook your ticket online in advance to save hassle on the day, such as a ticket from Haywards Heath to Brighton.

Enjoying the Beach

It is then a case of setting up on the beach and enjoying the day. Ideally, you will want to find a spot which is not too far from the nearest toilet but also somewhere relatively quiet. You should also regularly apply sun cream (set a reminder on your phone) and make sure that the kids to not stray too far unsupervised.

Hopefully this guide will help you and the kids to have a fantastic day down on the beach. These are always memorable excursions but you need to make sure that you are well prepared in order to get the most out of the trip and to have a fun, stress-free and safe trip to the coast.
