Father’s Day Gift Guide 2018
This Father’s Day is extra exciting for us this year. It’s Mikey’s last Father’s Day celebrated as a step daddy only – next year he’ll be a fully fledged dad and step daddy thanks to the arrival of Baby Number 2.
Dads are special people in our lives; as are the grandads! For me especially, I enjoy Father’s Day a lot more than Mother’s Day as I don’t have any form of relationship with my mum. It means that come June every year, I like to treat the fathers in my life who really deserve it.
For 2018, I’ve put together an especially lovely gift guide in the hopes that it too will inspire you to treat the ones you love! For me, my dad and my grandpa are my heroes, so it’s pretty nice to give them a little something and say thanks. It’s also mine and Luke’s chance to gift a few things to Mikey, after all, he really is the best step daddy I could have ever wished for.

First Things First: The Card
Luke loves making his very own cards for people when it comes to special occasions. Mikey has two birthday cards on the fridge from this year and last year – one’s covered in stickers and the other one is absolutely caked in glitter. Show me a parent who doesn’t appreciate that extra special home made touch.
However, sometimes time is short, or sometimes kid’s just aren’t into crafting. That’s where Hallmark’s huge collection of Father’s Day cards comes in handy. Hallmark* have got you covered, whether the dad in question is a huge craft ale fan or likes to relax doing some gardening instead.
For The Foodie Dads
My boyfriend loves to cook, which is handy because I really love to eat. He’s definitely the main chef in our house and has superb healthy cheffing skills. Sometimes, a little sneaky treat wouldn’t go amiss though…
Elizabeth Shaw Chocolate Biscuits
For Father’s Day, I’ve got him some Elizabeth Shaw Chocolate Biscuits*: RRP £1.79 from Tesco and Sainsbury’s. These luxury chocolate biscuits are super affordable and would make a great gift for dads, uncles and grandparents. They come in four different flavours, so there’s a box out there for everyone, no matter what their chocolatey preference: Raisin & Hazelnut, Coconut & Hazelnut, Raisin & Cocoa and Mint & Cocoa.
The Marshmallowist
For something a bit unusual, the people are The Marshmallowist* like to do things a bit differently. They deliver you delicious, soft marshmallows in a cute little box with an interesting flavour combo. We have tried the Spiced Tomato and Vodka Marshmallow and it’s certainly true to flavour. If gin’s more you thing, they have Blueberry and Gin marshmallows, or if the alcoholic flavours are too much for you, the Passionfruit and Ginger marshmallows sound amazing.
Choctopia Chocolates
We all know a dad who loves chocolate. These luxury handcrafted chocolates come from Matt Hancock – an expert in fine dining with over 25 years experience. Choctopia chocolates are something really special. Each chocolate is individually designed and airbrushed by hand, using coloured cocoa butters and Belgian chocolate. The designs are unique and eye catching, making them them a great little present for a special daddy.
For The Thirsty Dads
VonShef Mini Fridge
Okay so, slight confession: I couldn’t really keep this one hidden, so step daddy Mikey got to open one of his gifts a little early. I can’t tell you how excited my fully grown man of a boyfriend got when he realised he’d ended up with his very own mini fridge. Apparently, it’s something that all guys dream of having – I suppose you’ve got to have your own case of beer on hand? Or more likely, with Baby Number 2 on his way, it might end up being used for boob milk storage. Who knows! This amazing quality VonShef 47L Mini Fridge* is from Domu and costs £82.99 -it is worth every penny. The great thing about this fridge is that it’s also absolutely perfect for adventurous dads – it fits nicely in camper vans, motorhomes and converted vans so it’s great for camping holidays and road trips. It’s also really useful for offices, small kitchens and gyms. Or, if you’re my boyfriend, a glorified bedside table filled with treats.
Marques De Caceres Wines
Not all dads stick to beer! Marques De Caceres have a beautifully tasty and refreshing range of wines that are perfect for Father’s Day. The lighter, summer wines include the Verdejo White. An aromatic white wine from the Rueda region, full of character and balanced This wine pairs wonderfully with spicy foods and grilled fish – you can taste a hint of nuttiness, herbaceous and citrus notes.
My personal favourite, the Rosado Rosé. A blend of 96% Tempranillo and 4% Grenache grapes, Marques de Caceres Rosado Rose Wine is an attractive pink wine with floral, berry notes. Perfect for relaxed afternoons in the garden.
The Blanco White. The Blanco is a rich, dry white wine. It’s crisp and refreshing, with notes of grapefruit and pear.
For the men who desire something a bit richer and more decadent, there’s also the Marques de Caceres Crianza. With a deep black cherry colour and ruby red highlights, this wine is truly a treat for the taste buds. With notes of red berry fruits, toasted bread and cocoa, it leaves a touch of spice in the mouth and the scent of vanilla and succulent fruit flood the senses.
These vegan friendly wines can be purchased at Drink Supermarket.
For The Fashionable Dads
Menswear is a great gift for Father’s Day. Treating your dad, step dad or grandad to some nice new clothes and accessories is a lovely way to say ‘thank you for being there’.
Dobell Menswear
Dobell offer great quality menswear for an affordable price. I especially love this Navy Lambswool Crew Neck Jumper* and the Dobell Black Full Grain Leather Belt*.With wedding season on the way, it’s also the perfect opportunity to polish up the formal wear with Dobell’s selection of shirts, jackets and even dress canes! Both the jumper and belt are currently on sale, so now is a great time to pick up a quality bargain.
Hugo Boss Underwear Pant and Sock Gift Set
What’s underneath that striking new menswear though? How about this luxury Hugo Boss Underwear Pant and Sock gift set* from Mainline Menswear? This designer gift set retails for a respectable £34.99 and makes a great gift from you to you partner as a way of saying ‘thank you for being a great dad to the kids!’
For The Well Groomed Dad
With a baby on the way, we are definitely on the look out for products that are great quality and have a low price tag. Some people think that toiletries or ‘smellies’ are rubbish gifts, but I personally love them! As someone who loves a bargain and tries to live a frugal lifestyle, smellies are one of my favourite gifts as it means I get to have a bit of a pamper session, without having to spend the money myself.
Gold Aftershave Splash
Gold Aftershave Splash*, available on Amazon, costs an exceptionally low price of £8.95. It’s a brand that I hadn’t heard of before, but upon researching it a bit more, I’ve discovered that it seems to be a fairly popular brand of aftershave and for the price, you just can’t knock it. If you’re looking for something that looks and feels stylish but you have a constraint on your budget, Gold Splash Aftershave could be your answer. Originally, Gold was launched in 1975 as a fresh masculine fragrance, targeted towards men who ‘go for gold’; nowadays, Gold represents a man of elegance and style.
Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Chrome Edition Razor
My boyfriend has had the same Gillette razor since he was a teenager. The first one he bought is the one that he has stuck with for all these years and it’s served him well…big up Gillette for making great, long lasting and trustworthy products. However, it was time for a change. Razors have come on leaps and bounds since he was a teenager; as someone who shaves his hair and tidies up his beard with a razor, the Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Chrome Edition Razor*, available exclusively in Boots, really has proven itself to be ‘the best a man can get’. Priced at £14.99, the razor features 5 anti-friction blades, the chrome handle is chunky and nice to hold and that flexible ProGlide technology enables you to get a close shave, reaching every hair.
For The Dad That Deserves Something Personal
I came across a lovely gift shop company online and when I saw the type of personalised products they had available, I knew exactly what I had to get.
Engraved Personalised Pewter and Brass Pint Tankard
This glorious Engraved Personalised Pewter and Brass tankard* from Born Gifted really is beautiful! I am so impressed with the neatness of the engraving and the tankard is so shiny! The brass lip and base of the tankard contrasts wonderfully with the lead free pewter to produce something that really is a work of art. You can personalise the tankard with whatever text you like; Born Gifted offer you 5 lines of text with a maximum of 20 characters per line – perfect for a message from your little ones to their daddy.
For The Geeky Dad
Hallmark Itty Bitty
What’s not to love about Itty Bittys: they’re adorable, they’re fun and they’re collectable. Hallmark’s Itty Bitty* collection includes all our favourite characters, from Star Wars to The Muppets! They even have Itty Bittys for weddings, which, may I just add, are the most adorable little plushies I have ever seen.
Star Wars Radio Control X-Wing
Modelled on classic Episode IV: A New Hope X-Wings, this radio controlled X-Wing is every Star Wars fanboy’s dream. It’s suitable for indoor and outdoor use and, although it doesn’t fly, it does have a pretty decent range of 30 metres.
For The Car Loving Dad
Nextbase 312GW Dash Cam
Dash cams have become really popular in recent years; it’s estimated that there are 2.6 million units installed on UK roads. They’re even outselling SatNavs!
The reason for their popularity? They provide concrete evidence as to who’s liability it is in the case of a crash. As a result, they can also lower insurance premiums. Not to mention that studies show drivers feel more confident and safer driving on the roads when they have a dash cam installed.
They provide protection for drivers by ensuring that, should you have a colision on the road, you have strong, compelling evidence to support your claim. As a family blogger, I can see how having a dash cam installed would also provide the confidence and peace of mind when driving your family about.
With crystal clear footage, Nextbase‘s best seller, the Nextbase 312GW records in 1080 HD, offering fantastic quality of footage thanks to the Six Element Sharp Lenses. It’s even been voted a Which? Best Buy and is the best-selling dash cam in the UK.
The Nextbase 312GW is currently on sale at it’s lowest ever price of £79, instead of the RRP £99.99 from 24th April to 16th May.
Hopefully, this has given you a bit of inspiration to treat the dad’s in your life. I love treating my other half, dad and grandpa on Father’s Day, but it’s also great to gift a little something to those hard working single dad’s who are doing it all! Come Mother’s Day, there’s always so much focus on treating your mum, grandma and single mums, and sometimes I think that dad’s don’t get the attention that they deserve.
I know what my personal favourites from the list are – what’s yours? If you’ve already purchased some Father’s Day gifts, share your ideas with me in the comments!
