Ditch The Instant

Instant coffee can get pretty boring, pretty quickly. Some people are creatures of habit, happy with the same cup of instant coffee every day, but as the old saying goes “variety is the spice of life”.

If you are finding your instant coffee a bit boring, it is time to move onto another method of coffee preparation. If you don’t want to commit to a fancy new machine just yet, or you’re not sure which is the best option for you, you can take explore new caffeine rituals by looking into coffee machine rental before making the choice. In the modern age, there are so many alternatives and ways that you can make coffee just as quickly from coffee beans.

Buy Different Coffee

There are some people still working under the illusion that all coffee beans are the same, or at least very similar. This really isn’t the case. Coffee can vary hugely in taste from one region to the next, even between one farm and another in the same area. This is one of the reasons why single origin coffee is so popular, because people can enjoy all the nuanced differences of the different varieties and what they have to offer.

If you look at a wheel of coffee flavours you will start to notice just how many different tastes can be involved, from fruity flavours to smokey flavours, there are limitless possibilities and varieties. This is why so many coffee roasters offer a huge range of coffee beans rather than just sticking to one or two.

The easiest way to vary your coffee consumption and experiment a little is just to replace the beans in your preferred coffee preparation method.

Experiment With Coffee Preparation Methods

It is amazing how much of a difference it makes how you prepare your coffee.

Without going too deeply into the science of this, consider how the different methods extract flavour from the coffee differently. Some feed water through relatively quickly, like an espresso machine or a pad coffee machine. Some have a slow dripping effect.

All of these different methods change the coffee taste.

On top of this, grind size, and even the pressure of the individual machine can have a big impact on the overall taste of the coffee. When you get a new coffee machine, you probably notice that there are a lot of differences in the taste.

If you are the type of person who always makes one type of coffee, or orders the same Americano every time they go to the coffee shop, try experimenting with different drinks such as filter coffees, flat white, lattes…the options are endless. Some bean to cup coffee machines make dozens of different varieties of drink and even give you choices on the strength of the drink.

Experiment With Milk

Even if you are a vegan, you can experiment with different types of milk. The number of people who are opting for plant-based milks in their coffees is growing.

If you like milk in your coffee, or a milk-based beverage like a latte, there is no reason why you can’t still experiment with all of these different varieties. For instance, you might choose to pick up some oat milk the next time you go shopping.

If you consider yourself something of a barista, there are specific types of barista-style coffee milks that contain no animal products, which can make it simple to froth and steam the milk for your beverages.

If you still drink non-vegan milk then you can also experiment with different types of milk, with different fat percentages. It all makes a big difference to the sweetness and creaminess of your drink.

Added Extras

If you go to a coffee shop nowadays you will notice that they have a lot of extras besides sugar and sweetener. If you want to add a little cinnamon or chocolate sprinkle on the top, this is totally normal.

There is also a big market for syrups in the industry these days, which can be added to the coffee drink to create something totally new. Drinks like gingerbread or pumpkin spiced lattes are extremely popular, and seasonal, too. Enjoy some added extras and some variation in the types of drinks you’re ordering or making at home. Adding some syrup is one of the easiest ways.

There will always be some coffee purists who don’t like the added extras, but this is about what you enjoy.

Summary

It is a good idea to educate yourself when it comes to coffee preparation methods and types of coffee beans, but there are so many ways to experiment with the coffee you drink and the ways it is brewed, and you should never get to the point where you are truly bored.
