How To Use Window Displays To Bring More Customers Into Your Store

As well as working as a content creator and blogger, I also work with clients as a virtual assistant for several brick-and-mortar businesses. Because of this role, I have not only seen the effect that online marketing can have on sales, but I’ve also seen first-hand how the appearance of a store can play a massive role in attracting customers.

The very first thing that potential customers will see is your window display. The way you present your shop can make all the difference regarding whether you entice these customers in, or whether they continue to walk straight past your shop. If you want to attract new customers to your shop, it’s essential to ensure your window display is visually appealing and effectively conveys what your brand is all about.

Here are some tips for small business owners looking to entice more footfall into their stores by utilising their window display space!

Keep It Clean And Simple

A lot of potential customers will be walking by your shop without having the intention of entering. Therefore it’s up to you to make sure that your window display is easy to understand at a glance and tells potential customers everything they need to know about your brand. Make sure that your display is easy to understand with a quick glance and that it attracts the eye. It’s also important that you avoid creating a cluttered area and instead focus on highlighting one or two of your key products.

Make Your Window Displays Seasonal

Seasonal displays are a great way to keep your store looking fresh and up-to-date. Keeping your window display relevant to the time of year is essential, especially when you’re selling items that are directly affected by the weather, for example, clothing. Keep your window displays current by changing them with the seasons or by celebrating key holidays, such as Easter or Christmas.

Highlight Your Best Sellers

One of the best ways to attract new customers is to showcase your best-selling products! It can be tempting to place items that aren’t selling as well as you’d hope in the window to try and get them more exposure, but if the best-sellers are what your customers want, use that to your advantage. Don’t overcrowd your window display with your best-selling products though, stick to one or two key items that are in high demand.

Use Props To Make Your Window Display More Eye-catching

One of my favourite ways to create eye-catching window displays is to use props. Props can be a great way to create a visually appealing window display. Consider adding items such as plants, furniture, or artwork to add depth and texture to your display. Props can also help to create a theme or tell a story. Painted windows are an exceptionally popular way to attract new customers as the artwork creates a focal point that shoppers will talk about. Consider employing someone to paint some spring scenes on your window display, or use spray snow to create magical Christmas displays in December.

Use Plenty Of Lighting

Lighting can be a powerful tool when it comes to creating a visually appealing window display. Consider using spotlights to highlight specific items or adding colourful lighting to create an eye-catching display that entices people into your store. Lighting can also help to create a mood or ambience that fits with your brand. Remember to keep the theme throughout your store and ensure that your lighting and the store interior design are also aligned with your window display’s aesthetics.

Keep Your Window Displays & Glass Clean

If you want to attract more customers to your store, it’s imperative that you keep your window display clean and well-maintained. Dirty glass and cluttered, or dusty displays are a huge turnoff for customers. No one wants to purchase goods from a store that looks dirty and untidy. Keep your window displays clean and dust-free and consider hiring a window cleaner to ensure there are no sticky fingerprints on the glass.

Change Your Window Display Regularly

Finally, it’s important to change your window display regularly. This can help to keep customers engaged and interested in your store. Consider changing your display every few weeks or every month to keep things fresh and new. You can switch between keeping things simple one month, and then adding props and artwork the next. Experiment with different layouts and lighting until you find a style of window display that works well for you.

Final thoughts on how to use your window display to attract customers to your store.

In conclusion, your window display is a crucial part of your store’s overall appearance. By following these tips, you can create a visually appealing display that effectively conveys your brand message and attracts more customers to your store. Remember to keep it simple, seasonal, highlight your best sellers, use props and lighting, keep it clean, and change it up regularly. With these strategies in mind, you’re sure to see an increase in foot traffic and sales in no time!
