Review: Mrs Mactivity – Learning Resources Made By Teachers, Tested By Kids

Fan girl alert: I have definitely been stalking Mrs Mactivity on Instagram for the past few months, ever since I saw her learning resources being used by my blogger friend and pro-childminder, Clare. I watched their stories and read the captions from the stills on their Instagram grids and was blown away by how bold, bright and colourful the resources were and how great and original they were.

Boutique Learning Resources Made By Teachers and Tested By Kids

As the title states, Mrs Mactivity is a 100% ad-free website filled with boutique learning resources that have been made by teachers and tested by kids. The one of a kind resources are suitable for teachers, childminders and parents alike and can’t be found anywhere else on the web. Their mission is to change the world through inspiring fun learning with quality resources that really motivate children to learn. What’s more, for premium membership which lasts an entire year, it’ll only cost £9.97; with the premium membership, you gain access to absolutely everything.

Royal Wedding Fever

The nation is currently gripped by wedding fever – on the 19th May 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will tie the knot in a glorious royal wedding celebration. Communities are hosting street parties and viewing parties, some people have been camping out and some will be glued to the TV watching the event from their living rooms.

The kids don’t need to miss out on any of the royal celebrations though, as Mrs Mactivity has a huge selection of Royal Wedding themed learning resources that are perfect for children!

Having explored the site a little bit and downloaded and printed a whole bunch of phonics and maths related resources that I know Luke would absolutely love, I selected the Royal Wedding 2018 category.

Royal Wedding 2018 Learning Resources

Mrs Mactivity has 27 learning resources available based on the royal wedding. These resources are unique – show me another site where you can download quality Royal Wedding 2018 Lego Challenge Cards! There are colour by number sheets – perfect for children Luke’s age (4/5), as he loves matching the number to the colour and making sure that none of the paper is left uncoloured. There are versions of activities, such as book marks, crowns and bracelets that are available to download and print both in coloured versions and black and white. There are even royal wedding invitations, posters and bunting for you to download and print out – perfect for planning your own little royal wedding celebration party!

For teachers, parents and childminders

The resources are designed for use by teachers, parents and childminders, so there really is something for everyone. Teachers and childminders could make use of the selection of royal wedding themed writing frames and coloured versions of the bunting, whereas parents may prefer the versions of activities where you colour them in yourself.

We decided to have a go at colouring in some royal crowns. Clicking the download button will save the file as PDF on your computer, from then you can open it and print it. The resources come with instructions on what to do/how to use it. For the crown, we needed to colour all the shiny jewels and gems, decorate the sides and then cut everything out, finally gluing the sides to the back of the crown so that it sat nicely on Luke’s head. He is one very happy boy with his glorious crown – needless to say, he was very proud of himself.

Other Learning Resources

It’s not all about the royal wedding though. Mrs Mactivity has a huge selection of resources available for download that cover a variety of topics, perfect for children in EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Luke’s obsessed with reading and writing, so we found a great CVC word list to download and print which kept him occupied for a little while as he worked through the list. There are also categories for honing those fine motor skills and pencil control, creating end of year gifts for teachers, spring activities and – a personal favourite – the unicorn category.

What Do I Think?

Well we all knew from the very beginning of this post that I had very high expectations when it came to the quality of resources I was going to receive from the Mrs Mactivity website. Thankfully, I’m glad to be able to say that my opinion hasn’t changed and that the learning resources were everything I had hoped for and more. Mrs Mactivity states that they put quality before quantity and they’re not wrong – all the resources are gorgeously designed and presented in a fun way with easy to read instructions. And even though it’s all about quality not quantity, there is still so, so much to choose from. You can even email them yourself if you’re looking for something specific and they will see what they can do to help you out.

I’m really looking forward to continual use of the Mrs Mactivity site and I really do recommend that you take a look for yourself. Most of the resources on this website are actually free, meaning you don’t need to pay the £9.97 (bargain!) annual fee for premium membership; if you’re on the fence about it all, definitely visit the site and see if there’s anything that takes your fancy. I don’t think you could regret spending less than a tenner and receiving membership for a full year though!

Luke’s really excited about the amount we printed off yesterday and it means he gets to spend some quality one on one time with mummy and show off his excellent colouring, cutting and sticking skills.
