How To Feel Like You’ve Just Left The Salon – Every Single Day!

One of the greatest luxuries the average woman has is visiting a hair salon for a few hours and treating herself to some self care. There’s something so relaxing about setting aside a few hours for yourself and being pampered whilst you sit back and enjoy the experience of having your hair washed, cut, and styled. Before visiting the salon I always do my research to make sure I get the best treatment and the best value for money. If you’re interested in getting a good salon treatment, try typing best hairdressers Auckland (or wherever you live) into Google and don’t forget to read the reviews others have left.

For me, it’s all about the head massage…plus my hairdresser has a lovely warm blanket that she places over you whilst she shampoos and conditions your hair. I literally think I could fall asleep in her chair!

I love how amazing my hair looks and feels after visiting the salon.

But, of course, the main point of going to a hair salon is to get lovely, healthy, fresh-looking hair. I love how soft and shiny my hair looks after a visit to the salon. It almost doesn’t feel like it’s MY hair anymore; it always looks so beautiful and smooth. Yet, as soon as I wash it, it goes back to its normal dull and lifeless self.

So, I decided that I needed to do something about this. I needed to learn how to get salon quality hair at home, so I didn’t need to spend all my time (and money)  running to my hairdresser for help. And thus, this article was born.

Therefore, if you’re looking for tips on how to get salon quality hair from home – keep reading!

How To Get Salon Quality Hair At Home – The Best Tips and Tricks

1 Consider your choice of shampoo and conditioner

First things first, the type of shampoo and conditioner you use on your hair can make a huge difference to how it not only looks, but also how it feels. If you want to know how to get salon quality hair at home, the first step is to consider your choice of shampoo and conditioner.

You will want to choose products that suit your hair’s needs, but bear in mind, once the products have done their job, you may need to find different products in order to maintain your luscious locks. If you’ve not used a clarifying shampoo for a while, or you haven’t visited a hair salon for a hair wash lately, you may want to consider using one.

Clarifying shampoos help to remove product build up in your hair and can leave your hair feeling lighter and healthier, but beware as over using this product can cause more harm than good.

2 Check your blow drying technique

Blow drying your hair isn’t all about completely drying it before you start styling. In fact, not only does blow drying your hair in this way add extra heat to your hair routine, therefore accelerating the damage to your hair, but it also doesn’t give you the smooth finish that you’re looking for.

If you want to know how to get salon quality hair at home, you first need to have a good quality hair dryer. For me, my tool of choice is the mdlondon Blow hair dryer thanks to its lightweight, 3 speed settings, as well as its 3 heat settings. Plus, it is so much quieter than over hair dryers that are on the market at the moment.

In order to get silky smooth hair when blow drying, you need to angle the hair dryer in a downward motion. By doing so, you are ensuring that the air is travelling down the hair shaft which helps to keep all of your hair flying in the one direction. It is this technique that helps to create smooth, silky hair.

3 Invest in your styling tools

It will probably come as no surprise to many that in order to get salon quality hair at home, you are probably going to need to invest in some styling tools. The cheapest styling tools may give your hair the desired shape, but they’re not necessarily the best tools to use – especially if you use them daily. If you love the way your hair looks and feels after visiting the hair salon, don’t be afraid to ask questions about the products that your stylist has used and consider investing in professional quality tools.

4 Protect your hair from heat

Whether you’re blow drying or styling with tools, it’s vital that you protect your hair from heat damage. Use a thermal protective product on your hair before drying with a hair dryer to protect your hair from damage. You should also apply protective products to your hair, starting with the ends to the tip of your hair, when using any heated styling products such as tongs or straighteners.

5 Treat your hair with the same respect that your stylist does

Lastly, on my journey to find out how to get salon quality hair at home, I discovered that I need to start treating it with a bit more respect. When I go to a hair stylist, they never drag a hair brush through tangled hair and force the knots away. They take their time and respect my hair.

That’s what I needed to do too. In order to have that salon quality hair at home, you need to treat your hair in the same way that your stylist would. Be gentle and kind to yourself and try not to add damage by aggressively brushing tangles away.
