September Favourites
Somehow we seem to have flown through the month of September and that can only mean one thing: it’s time for a favourites post! September seems to have zoomed past ridiculously fast and suddenly October is here and it’s all about Halloween. I love this time of year, Autumn is my favourite season and I definitely seem to become a happier, more productive person during these months – a very good reason for everything to start slowing down! During September I discovered lots of new things that I have completely fallen in love with. So here goes:
September Favourites
Beauty:
September has been a big month for beauty! I have completely fallen in love with doing my make up every day all over again – a big surprise for me really as I’m far too lazy usually. I think this has started up because now I have to do the nursery run and bump into other mums and dad’s who all seem to look far more organised and presentable than I do most of the time.
To start things off, I’ve been using the Simple Sun-Kissed Moisture Cream. This makes a perfect base for all my make up, it’s light and not too greasy, makes me skin feel wonderful and when I don’t have make up on, my face has a little bit of colour to it, rather than my usual ghostly pale complexion. This month I threw away my usual mascara after realising just how blooming old it was (years!) It definitely had to go in the bin, so I went to the shops and bought myself some Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Retro Summer Mascara. This stuff made me so glad I threw away my old mascara, it’s strange to see just how much improvement things can go through in a year. The consistency is fabulous, I absolutely love the wand – makes my lashes look long and not a clump in sight! Lastly on the old make up sort of stuff, I picked up some Maybeline Midnight Taupe nail polish, that you will have probably seen on my Instagram. I love the colour, it’s perfect to Autumn and was long lasting. Once my face of the day is finally finished, I’ll then spray on some Zoella Blissful Mistful for a fresh, uplifting scent and out the door I go!
Luke:
Luke’s been big on reading lately and I found a wonderful book at the library called Two Homes (Claire Masurel & Kady MacDonald). This book is great for kids with separated or divorced parents living in separate properties. I’m not sure whether it’s something that Luke fully understands yet at only two years old, but I have fallen in love with the book and its approach towards a sensitive and difficult situation. I will definitely be purchasing a copy when Luke’s a little older. At the other end of the book spectrum, I ask you: where would a child be these days without their dinosaur? Yes, during September there was a lot of pooping…we have of course been reading The Dinosaur That Pooped…(Tom Fletcher, Dougie Poynter & Gary Parsons) collection! My favourite is The Dinosaur That Pooped A Planet – the cover is shiny and I love the story. Especially the space cats!
Luke’s also picked up some mighty fine colouring skills this past month and he’s started to understand drawing different lines and naming most of his colours. We have been doing a lot of colouring in one particular colouring book, My Emergency Vehicles, available at Wilkos. Luke’s mad about cars, so he’s been enjoying this immensely.
Random:
I was told at the end of August that I wasn’t allowed to start wearing Ugg Boots until September. So, promptly on the 1st of the month out they came and they haven’t made it back to the shoe rack since! I love my Ugg boots with extreme passion and I don’t know how I’d get through Autumn without them. Warm and fuzzy, there’s really no need for me to describe them too you. Mine are black and have awesome silver buckles and a frilly zip on the side.
When I’m not out and about that, I have become very partial to a bit of DC’s Arrow. I started watching Season 1 a while ago and I ended up losing interest, however, I watched the entire first season of The Flash at the beginning of the month and with the two shows intertwining, it would be rude not to catch up on Arrow. As it turns out, I gave up watching the first season of Arrow JUST as it started getting really good! I’m now at the end of season 2 and I’ve just bought season 3 on DVD.
If you have followed me for a while, you’ll know I love a good fandom… So it seemed fitting that I should jump on the fandom band wagon and get myself some Funko Pop Vinyls. They don’t do anything, they’re a complete waste of money, but oh my gosh, they’re so pretty! So far I have Darth Vader (James and I have watched a lot of Star Wars lately), Groot (Guardians of the Galaxy), and just yesterday we got DC’s Arrow and The Flash delivered – they’re still in their boxes! These are so fun and I love decorating my bookcase with them as that’s where all the DVDs, books, the playstation 4 and everything else a little bit nerdy lives!
That’s it for this month! I’ve gone a little crazier than I usually do, but it’s good to treat yourself sometimes! I will not apologise for my love of Ugg Boots, nor my completely pointless but unbelievably adorable Pop Vinyls! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this and and I’ll see you next month!

I love Simple skin care, it’s really great for my skin and a lot of other products don’t seem to help me at all. Especially my face! Taupe nails are so autumnal, it’s impossible not use some nice coloured nail polish this time of year. xx

Oooh might give the moisturiser a try it sounds lovely. The nail varnish is a favourite of mine, i love it but I do find it peels off (could be my top coat though) great post xx

Oh it really is, I love Simple as you know! 🙂 Hmm, I don’t know why it would do that, it’s not the best quality varnish but it definitely lasts a little while with me. Thanks for the comment, lovely. xx

Ah, you lasted longer than me. I must admit there were a few occasions where I thought…”hmm, my feet are a bit TOO toasty now!” xx

Loving the favourites. I think the book on living in two homes sounds wonderful. As a nursery nurse and having children ages 3 & 4 who struggle with this, it might well be something I invest in for work!
