5 Things I’ve Loved In September

With Autumn rolling in and winter on its way, I thought now would be a good time to start celebrating the positives in a bid to avoid the dreaded SADs. I thought I’d maybe take it a step further and use my blog to document 5 of my favourite things every month. I’m talking TV shows to staying in bed all day (don’t act like you’ve never done it)! The challenge here is to whittle the list down to just 5 things, so here goes.

These are the 5 things I have loved in September.

Atypical on Netflix

Atypical is a Netflix drama based around an 18 year old boy who has Autism. A quirky coming of age drama featuring heartwarming highs, dramatic lows and a good amount of humour throughout. If you’re looking for something that’s easy to watch and will have you gripped from the get-go, Atypical is the show for you. There are currently 2 seasons on Netflix.

Shopping at Aldi

Hey so…I’m a mum and sometimes boring and mundane things excite me. This time that excitement would come in the form of shopping in ALDI. I’m usually a Lidl girl, so I was venturing into the unknown and had high expectations – after all, everyone raves about ALDI! I really enjoyed shopping there this month and will continue to do so, they seem to have a lot more variety than Lidl and also they seem to be a tiny bit cheaper. I really enjoyed their Chunky chocolate bars, their sliced fresh bread and, of course, the middle aisle!

Wearing ALL The Warm, Cosy Clothes

So I’m not a fan of dark mornings and short days, but I am a fan of the slightly chillier weather. Nothing brings me more joy than opening the curtains in the morning and seeing that glorious autumn sunshine and feeling the crisp air! September was a mix of warm and cold days, but with Storm Ali hitting the UK towards the end of the month, I’ve finally had the excuse I’ve been waiting for to crack out the cosy hoodies and Ugg boots. Autumn is all about the chunky knits, warm scarves and boots – it’s the only time of year I feel vaguely fashionable!

Eating A LOT of Cadbury Mini Rolls

When I was pregnant with Oscar and suffering the trauma of HG, I occasionally managed to eat a mini roll (I’m talking when dosed up on the maximum amount of medication towards the end of my HG). Those little chocolately rolls bought me so much comfort and I now associate them with that warm, happy tingly feeling. Honestly, they bring me so much happiness. It’s been a tough month; Oscar’s been going through some growth spurts and a sleep regression, exclusively pumping is starting to become more challenging and finances are tight with Christmas on the way…naturally I turned to my trusty mini rolls to bring me a tiny bit of joy and comfort in those stressful times.

Engaging on Twitter

I’m starting to fall back in love with Twitter again! A long time ago, I absolutely loved Twitter and thought it was a fun way to chat to other people. Then I became a blogger and started following other bloggers. I think there was a phase in the blogging community where there was literally no use for Twitter other than self promo. Obviously bloggers need to promote their posts, but Buffer was doing it’s thing and churning out link after link. My dashboard was absolutely full of blog links and no actual coversation. I stopped using it for quite a while, I even stopped promoting my own posts there. But I decided to try it out again recently (my boyfriend finally downloaded it…only 12 years late) and so I started to get back into it. Thankfully my dashboard isn’t clogged anymore and bloggers seem to have started engaging with each other a lot more, which I am loving! In fact, you should totally go and follow me @gloryiscalling as it’s now my main social media platform.
