Extra Special Christmas Gifts For Kids Thanks To FunkyPigeon.com

Christmas gifts for children can be hard to find. You have to make sure it’s something they’ll love, something they’ll play with, wear or use. It can be a minefield! I like making sure that every year I get something a little different for Luke which has a special little flare to it. This year, I’ve got Oscar to think about too, and so finding something for each of them was looking like it would be a challenge.

Then, the lovely people from FunkyPigeon.com got in touch with me and asked if there was anything in their Christmas for children section that I’d be interested in reviewing. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to find some amazing, unique and personalised gifts that my children could keep and cherish for years to come.

As a family, we often use Funky Pigeon and I have always had exceptional customer service and brilliant personalised cards and gifts from them. I knew straight away that this was going to be an exciting collaboration. After browsing through their website, which absolutely caters for anyone and everyone, I came across two Christmas gifts which I had to have for my boys.

For Oscar: All The Years Through – Personalised Children’s Story Book

For little baby Oscar, I decided to get him something that he can look back on in a few years. As a new mum, I’ve been using milestone cards with Oscar, which I didn’t do with Luke. I’m eager to continue creating little keepsakes for us all to look back on in the years to come. I thought that this beautifully illustrated story book would be another one of those wonderful keepsakes that Oscar would appreciate later on in life. I love the idea that he will have something to look at that always reminds him just how much he is loved.

Creating ‘All The Years Through’

The process of personalising All The Years Through was made really easy on the Funky Pigeon website. I was able to go through each page of the book, editing the personalisable text on the appropriate pages. Adding the images was easy too, you could even pull images straight from Facebook which was super convenient. Once an image was uploaded, I was able to edit the colour pre-sets (think sepia, greyscale etc), as well as the size, brightness, contrast, rotation and other image levels. In all, it took around 15 minutes to choose the photos I wanted, edit them, upload and pay for the book. I mixed and matched between uploading photos from my computer and also pulling them straight from Facebook.

Delivery & Thoughts

Choosing the delivery option gives you a pretty good idea about when the book will turn up and mine came fairly quickly. It was well packaged and the book had cellophane around it to ensure it was in pristine condition upon arrival. The story itself is beautiful, as I already know from creating the gift online. The pictures all turned out well although, some images do appear to look a little stretched. I think that the image quality is highlighted because the book’s illustrations are so crisp, clean and colourful, that the pictures inserted will never be of the same quality, due to them being different image types. Like I said though, I think the pictures look nice and the whole book has a lovely, warming feeling to it. I can’t wait to read this with Oscar on Christmas morning and to look back through it as he grows older.

For Luke: Dinosaur Breakfast Set

You may have worked out from the title of my blog that my eldest son, Luke, earned the nickname ‘Lukeosaurus’ when he was a tiny little newborn. Ever since then, anything dinosaur themed that has the name Luke on it has caused a number of impulse purchases. When I was browsing the Funky Pigeon website and I came across this cute dinosaur themed breakfast set, I knew it was the special gift for Luke this year.

Even though Luke is now 5, we still have a lot of plastic plates, bowls and cutlery. It seemed to me, upon looking at the breakfast sets details, that this is exactly the type of Christmas gift that Luke needs. It ticks all the boxes – he needs it, he’ll use it and he’ll love it.

I was able to personalise the breakfast set with Luke’s name and when the parcel came, it included a breakfast bowl, cup and plate. Each item was well individually packaged to avoid any damage. The ‘grown up set’ arrived in perfect condition and the dinosaur designs are even cuter in real life! I know that he will really enjoy the design, but more importantly, I know it will give him another little boost of independence and reinforce that he’s growing up and that he is a ‘big boy’ now. I have to admit that since the birth of Oscar, Luke’s taken his role as Big Brother very seriously and I’ve watched him grow up huge amounts. Hopefully, this gorgeous breakfast set will prove to him that we are watching him grow into a gorgeous young man and we’re so proud of the person he is.

Overall Thoughts

I’m really happy with both my picks from Funky Pigeon! The special personalised children’s story book is a fantastic Christmas gift idea for children or parents. It really helps to capture some gorgeous moments in your child’s life and the story itself is so heartwarming. I’m also really impressed with the delivery time and the packing quality the items from Funky Pigeon. Everything arrived quickly and in mint condition – especially important when you’re ordering something extra special for your loved ones at Christmas time.
