Loving My Postpartum Body With Simply Be

It’s now been three months since I had Oscar – what a rollercoaster it has been! Adapting to life as a family of four has gone well and I’ve enjoyed and relished in the challenges that it’s presented. One of the best things about no longer being pregnant is that I can fit into the clothes that I was wearing pre-pregnancy. Well, almost all of them anyway. I’ve found that my boobs have gone absolutely haywire and changed loads in the last year and none of my pre-pregnancy bras fit me.

What better excuse to treat myself to some new lingerie, eh?

Simply Be asked if I’d be interested in working with them on their new autumn ‘18 ranges, including their gorgeous collection of lingerie. Obviously, I jumped at the chance to get myself some gorgeous underwear and make falling in love with my postpartum body a fun and enjoyable phase of my life. After having two kids, my body isn’t what it used to be; one thing I’ve come to realise is that no matter what I do, it’ll never look how it did when I was 18, so why waste my time hating it when I could just embrace it and love it? Life’s too short to spend it not liking yourself!

Simply Be offer a stunning collection of sexy, elegant and stylish underwear for women from all walks of life.

They cover all sorts of shapes, styles and colours and even have a stylish yet practical range of nursing and maternity bras.

Most importantly, Simply Be lingerie promotes body confidence and allows women of all shapes and sizes to love the skin they’re in! I chose two very different styles of lingerie; something sultry and sexy which makes me feel empowered, as well as something pretty and delicate. I also picked out some extra items to compliment my luxurious lingerie: some chunky black ankle boots and a black wrap around choker necklace.

Sasha Black/Blush Moulded Balcony Bra £16

I really like the look and style of balcony bras, I think they’re my favourite style of bra because they help create a nice full, plump cleavage by lifting the top half of your boob. They cover just enough of you to make sure you’re not going to have an accidental nip-slip and make your boobs look incredible at the same time. The Sasha Black and Blush moulded balcony bra from Simply Be combines the elegance of the balcony bra and teams it up with a captivating mulled wine and black coloured design, adding in a sultry element. The bra features seductive strapping details and a fine fishnet overlay which looks incredible on and would make any woman feel glorious! The smooth padding and underwire makes sure that your boobs are supported and look great. The best bit? Not only does this bra look awesome {the boyfriend agrees!}, it also only costs £16! If you’re a lingerie lover like me, you’ll know that that is an astounding price and an absolute bargain. I’d definitely recommend snatching this while it’s still in stock. It looks stunning, it’s a very comfortable fit and an exceptional price.

Simply Be Black/Raspberry Sasha Brazilian Brief £8

Of course you can’t have a sexy as hell bra without completing the look with matching briefs! I don’t know about you, but wearing a matching lingerie set makes me feel like i’ve got life all figured out and that I am a total boss babe. The briefs feature the same seductive strapping detail and fishnet overlay as the bra does, the mesh panels completing the cheeky look by covering the front and back of the brief. This is definitely my favourite style of underwear and what gives me the most confidence. I’m not a fan of thongs or anything that makes me feel ‘over-exposed’. Thankfully the Sasha Brazilian Brief is the perfect style for me as it hugs my wobbly bits while still looking sexy. Teamed up with the matching Sasha balcony bra, these £8 briefs are dreamy.

Panache Jasmine Balcony Bra £34

How gorgeous is this Panache Jasmine bra? I adore the autumnal floral patterns and mulberry coloured lace detailing at the top of the cup. It’s elegant and sexy at the same time and is a really comfortable non padded wired bra, perfect for everyday wear. After being pregnant and breastfeeding/pumping, I’ve got a new found appreciation for non padded bras – a style I had usually avoided. The Panache Jasmine balcony bra proves that you don’t need to have a padded bra to look and feel great!

Wrap Around Choker (now £4!) £10

Saying “as a larger woman” sounds bizarre to me, because although I’m not as slim as I could be, I’m pretty content with my size and wouldn’t consider myself to be too overweight. Tell this to the companies and brands making chokers! In the 90’s, chokers were huge and I still have my original 90’s necklaces; how’s that for vintage? So just imagine how thrilled I was when chokers came back in fashion and then how disappointed I was to find out that “one size” does not actually fit all! Thankfully Simply Be have taken women’s shapes and sizes into consideration and sell chokers that are actually adjustable and take into account that not all women’s bodies are the same. This wrap around choker looks great teamed up with a cute LBD and is pretty alluring with the 3 inch extension hanging down into your cleavage.

Kate Side Zip Chunky Boot Wide E Fit £30

Nothing says autumn like a good pair of ankle boots! If you’ve had a baby, you’ll know that carrying your little bundle of joy for 9 months seriously takes its toll on your body. One of the things I noticed pretty quickly was that my feet got bigger and wider. Before I had Luke, I didn’t know “wide fit” shoes existed, nor would I ever dream of admitting I had “wide feet”. I’ve come to accept these facts about my body now and these boots are the first pair of wide fit shoes I’ve worn. I am so pleasantly surprised by just how comfortable they are. The Kate Side chunky boots have a contrasting gold zip detail on the outer side and a black, functional zip located on the inside. They look absolutely gorgeous with a good pair of skinny jeans, tights, or leggings and are the ultimate shoe to complete any autumn look.

The Verdict

This is the first time I’ve tried out Simply Be and I’ve got to say I’m incredibly impressed. The items I received are all great quality and exactly as described on the website. Delivery was prompt and everything was well packaged, especially the choker, which had extra protection for shipping. The sizes are perfect for all of my items. The bras are a gorgeous fit and are good quality. There’s nothing worse than a stray underwire or shabby straps. I’m especially pleased with my boots as they’re really comfortable and easy to wear due to them featuring a good chunky heel with a grippy soul, perfect for the autumn and winter months.

Would I Shop With Simply Be Again?

Absolutely, yes! I’d never thought to explore Simply Be’s website too much in the past and I regret that now. They have brilliant lingerie but also an amazing collection of reasonably priced clothes and accessories. Being three months postpartum it’s been a real confidence boost to find clothes that fit me well and are stylish and on trend. I will definitely be shopping with Simply Be again.
